One of the doctors who was allegedly part of a scheme to inflate the cost of medical care for car accident victims can’t use his fellow doctors’ settlement agreements with State Farm to dodge his part of a $12 million judgment, a federal judge has ruled.

Following the entry of judgment, for which the doctors were jointly and severally liable, two of them settled with State Farm and the company marked the judgment as satisfied with respect to them. Richard Mintz, an osteopathic doctor who hasn’t yet paid anything, argued that the mark of satisfaction should extend to his portion of the judgment as well.
