“All’s well that ends well” is one way to look at what happened to three lawyers charged with criminal racketeering and fraud, who were acquitted by a federal jury July 3.
But the lawyers—David Adler, Donald Manno and Gary McCarthy—lived under a cloud for six years as the FBI investigated them and federal prosecutors pressed charges, culminating in a trial that convicted four co-defendants, including alleged mobster Nicodemo Scarfo Jr. and Texas attorney William Maxwell.
