An Allegheny County jury has awarded nearly $16 million to a woman who sustained a severe brain injury in an auto accident while on her way to the rehearsal dinner for her daughter’s wedding.

On Monday, the jury in Gump v. Mains awarded plaintiff Brenda Gump $15.8 million for damages stemming from a June 2010 accident that occurred on an allegedly dangerous road-construction site. The jury found the defendant driver more than 40 percent responsible for the collision, but also held the construction company overseeing the roadwork and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation liable.
