Former football players who have questioned the terms of the settlement reached this summer with the NFL over head injuries asked the federal judge handling the case to push back the deadline for opting out of the settlement.

In a motion filed late Friday, lawyers representing some of the former National Football League players asked the judge to move the deadline from Oct. 14 to a date at some point after the fairness hearing, which is scheduled for Nov. 19.
