As the energy industry in Pennsylvania has begun to mature, so has the legal industry supporting it, with more of the activity now centered on “midstream” work and litigation. In some ways, industry analysts said, it has led to a high demand for experienced lawyers in certain sectors.

Seven years out from the start of the energy boom in Pennsylvania, oil and natural gas companies are beginning to shift their focus from acquiring land to operating drill sites, and the legal industry has begun to shift its focus as well, several attorneys who spoke with the Law Weekly said. But overall growth in the industry continues, and the high demand for experienced lawyers has even led some firms to get creative when it comes to finding talent.
