Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott appears to be banking on Pennsylvania approving the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes.

The firm has created a regulated-substances practice group in the wake of the state Senate passing a medical marijuana bill, but two major hurdles still exist—passage in the state House of Representatives and a sign-off from the governor. For Eckert Seamans, the practice gets a big boost if that governor is Democratic candidate Tom Wolf, who has come out in favor of medical marijuana usage in Pennsylvania while Republican incumbent Gov. Tom Corbett has largely opposed such legislation.
