A federal judge has dismissed all claims made by a former Bucknell student against the university following the 2010 internal student conduct proceeding stemming from an accusation that he had assaulted a female student. His claim against the woman’s lawyer, though, has survived.
Both Reed Dempsey, the student who was accused, and Kelly Stefanowicz, the student who had accused him, were found guilty of disorderly conduct and moved to separate residence halls after the university’s internal hearing, according to the opinion issued by U.S. District Judge Matthew W. Brann of the Middle District of Pennsylvania. The pair had vastly different accounts of their encounter in September 2010 that led to the proceeding.
