A statewide grand jury is recommending that state Attorney General Kathleen Kane be charged with perjury and contempt of court in connection with allegations that she leaked confidential grand jury information, The Philadelphia Inquirer has reported.

The Inquirer cited “numerous people familiar with the decision,” and said that a special prosecutor in the case and the grand jury panel concluded that Kane had violated grand-jury secrecy rules. The paper further reported that some of those familiar with the grand jury presentment say the panel recommended charges that included perjury and contempt of court. The grand jury was convened in Montgomery County.
