The changing of the guard of state Supreme Court chief justices from Ronald D. Castille to Thomas G. Saylor marks a distinct shift in leadership styles that may foster more collegiality and collaboration on the court, members of the legal community said.
Saylor’s ability to build consensus among his fellow justices, according to observers, is the primary difference between him and Castille, whose administrative disposition was described as being more self-reliant.
