A federal magistrate judge reviewing whether the clerk of courts should have taxed a losing plaintiff more than $100,000 in costs recommended the court increase the amount owed to defendant Cornell University to nearly $125,000.

The costs stem from a case filed by Randall Duchesneau who was unsuccessful in his attempt to collect upwards of $75 million in damages against Cornell University for an injury on campus while participating in a campus gymnastics club. Duchesneau was paralyzed and rendered quadriplegic from the accident.
