The grand jury that recommended Attorney General Kathleen Kane be charged criminally for allegedly leaking grand jury secrets has also recommended that the state General Assembly create a crime-fraud exception to the Shield Law for journalists.

Among other things, this exception, according to the grand jury report unsealed today, would be aimed at “discouraging reporters from developing sources by encouraging them to commit crimes in providing information and/or documentation subject to grand jury secrecy.”
