Nationwide litigation over Takata air bags, which are alleged to explode unprompted, ejecting metal debris, has been consolidated in the Southern District of Florida.

Most of the defendants, including the major car manufacturers that used the air bags—Honda, BMW, Ford, Nissan, Subaru and Toyota—and Takata, the manufacturer of the air bags, had argued for the cases to be consolidated in the Western District of Pennsylvania.
