I am a young lawyer and want to open my own office. What are some of the most important aspects of beginning a law practice?
One of the things most neglected in law school is the fact that most lawyers who practice law are really businesspeople. As a small businessperson in a one- or two-person law firm, one learns very quickly about overhead and the need to reduce costs. Decisions have to be made in terms of employees, office space, vacations and more. Most law schools don’t mention this aspect of practicing law.
