The gay attorney suing Anapol Schwartz for defamation took the stand Tuesday to outline his departure from the firm and decision to accept a job at Raynes McCarty.

Jeffrey Downs, the plaintiff in the case, told the jury about his working relationship with his supervising attorney at Anapol Schwartz, Mark LeWinter, and a growing number of personnel and privacy issues he was having with firm leadership at that firm. Downs also told the jury about his reasons for sending an email to request that the firm provide eight months in severance pay before leaving to join Raynes McCarty. In court papers, the defendants have referred to the email as a litigation threat.
