When thinking about the most efficient in-house legal departments, a century-old company that started out in mine safety might not be the first thing that comes to mind.
But, recently, the legal department at MSA, a Cranberry Township-based safety products manufacturing company, has become a model for how to effectively manage outside counsel, as well as a leader for ethics, compliance and in-house counsel education. And the five-attorney legal team has done all this while also undertaking projects to modernize the company’s legal structure in both the United States and Europe.
