The suspended Dauphin County magisterial district judge who was charged by the state Judicial Conduct Board last year is now facing criminal charges for allegedly demanding campaign contributions from the constables who worked for him.
Magisterial District Judge Robert Jennings III was charged Wednesday with demanding property to secure employment, theft by extortion, criminal coercion and official oppression for allegedly telling the constables in his office to donate 10 percent of their earnings from working with his office to his re-election campaign in 2009. The criminal complaint also alleges Jennings had asked officers to withdraw outstanding parking tickets.
