Large law firms have been quietly trimming partners, and many of those attorneys are not able to find new or similar positions given the premium placed on books of business, consultants have repeatedly said in recent months.

But no firm can claim all departures were desired and of the more than 115 partners who have left K&L Gates since the start of the year, according to ALM’s RivalEdge, many have moved to other law firms.
