A former employee of syringe maker Unilife Corp., who claimed he was the subject of a retaliatory firing for pointing out in 2011 that the company was in violation of FDA regulations, has withdrawn and apologized for his claims.

In 2013, Talbot Todd Smith filed his whistleblower action against Unilife in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Smith alleged Unilife falsely led shareholders to believe through press releases that, in accordance with U.S. Food and Drug Administration manufacturing or “validation” standards, it had the ability to manufacture the Unifill syringe to specifications for commercial distribution.
