I am a judicial officer in a small county. Everyone knows everyone and, as a lawyer, I have represented many people. What is the standard for appearance of impropriety?

Under the new Code of Judicial Conduct, the definition of impropriety has changed. Under Canon 1, Rule 1.2, a judge has to promote confidence in the judiciary. Rule 1.2 reads as follows:
