A former public defender fired for repeated case-scheduling problems will not be able to receive unemployment compensation because he was likely not the only one in the office who was often overbooked, the Commonwealth Court has ruled.
A three-judge panel of the Commonwealth Court on Tuesday ruled that former Lancaster County assistant public defender Matthew A. Bomberger will not be able to receive unemployment benefits after he was fired last year for allegedly making numerous scheduling mistakes, which, in one case, led to a bench warrant being issued for a defendant.
