The offensive emails sent and received by Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice J. Michael Eakin merit discipline, whether or not the dual ongoing investigations uncover any further infractions, ethics attorneys and court watchers said.

Whether that discipline will come in the form of a public admonishment, a recommendation for sensitivity training or another punishment is unclear, though attorneys said the current scope of Eakin’s actions, as it stands, shouldn’t threaten his position on the Supreme Court bench.
