State Supreme Court candidate and Commonwealth Court Judge Anne Covey has sent a cease-and-desist letter to a trial attorney-funded political action group demanding it stop airing a negative campaign ad the judge claims is false and defamatory.

According to Keith Naughton, a spokesman for Covey’s campaign, the cease-and-desist letter was sent late Tuesday to Mark S. Singel of the Pennsylvanians for Judicial Reform. A copy of the letter shows it was sent by attorney Richard A. Sprague of Sprague & Sprague.
