At the Mazzoni Center, we provide a continuum of health, wellness and legal services for clients who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT). For LGBT people, important equality issues remain unresolved even after the U.S. Supreme Court held in Obergefell v. Hodges, 135 S. Ct. 2071 (2015), that same-sex couples are entitled to equal dignity for their relationships.

One pressing issue is the need for protection against employment discrimination. More than 4 percent of the U.S. workforce identifies as LGBT, including approximately 174,000 workers in Pennsylvania, according to 2013′s “Employment Discrimination Based on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity in Pennsylvania” by Amira Hasenbush and Christy Mallory.
