The former head of Luzerne County’s Bureau of Elections has successfully argued the county’s advice-of-counsel defense in his wrongful termination suit waives the county manager’s attorney-client privilege.

Leonard C. Piazza III sued the county and its manager, Robert Lawton, for what he claimed was a politically motivated firing. Lawton testified the county’s chief solicitor advised him to fire Piazza and initially did not elaborate.
