The special Senate committee established to investigate whether state Attorney General Kathleen Kane can carry out the duties of her office with a suspended law license has proposed a resolution that would set a Jan. 12 hearing at which Kane would be given the chance to testify.

Senate Resolution 256, proposed by all seven members of the committee, is the next step in Kane’s potential removal pursuant to Article VI, Section 7 of the Pennsylvania Constitution. If it is approved by the Senate Rules Committee, it would then be put to a full floor vote, which Senate Republican chief legal counsel Drew Crompton said would likely happen this week.
