Two Office of Attorney General agents have sued state Attorney General Kathleen Kane and her chief of staff, alleging the agents’ reputations were harmed when Kane explained publicly that she wouldn’t prosecute five black Philadelphia politicians the agents investigated because the investigation was racially motivated.
Investigative agents Michael Carlson and Michael J. Cranga alleged in their complaint Monday that Kane and chief of staff Jonathan A. Duecker denied them promotions and selectively released emails in the so-called Porngate scandal that implicated Carlson and Cranga but protected others, such as Kane’s sister. Carlson and Cranga allege this was done in retaliation for the pair’s testifying before the Philadelphia grand jury that ultimately brought charges against the Philadelphia politicians.
