Since the tragic events in Paris and San Bernardino, California, Muslim communities in the United States have been targeted by criminals, government agents, and even school-age children alike, almost on a daily basis. The Huffington Post crime section cites a growing litany of incidents that provide painful evidence of how individuals, even children, can forget their humanity in the service of fear. Several examples:
• On Dec. 7, a severed head of a pig was discovered outside the Al Aqsa Islamic Society mosque in Philadelphia. Surveillance video shows the driver of a red pick-up truck tossing an object, presumably the pig head, out of the window.
