As 2015 has drawn to a close, let’s review the many ways in which the fight for equality has made historical and unprecedented progress, as well as the areas where fundamental rights of LGBT people are increasingly under siege.

The glowing landmark this year, that even people who have been under a rock are aware of, is the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, 576 U.S. ___ (2015), that made marriage equality the law of the land. It was a jubilant moment in our struggle for equality even though many advocates expected it jurisprudentially based on how the United States v. Windsor, 570 U.S. ___ (2013), decision was decided as well as based on the opinions written by federal court judges throughout the year.
