While individual partners may be riding out the waves rippling through the stock market, their clients have made adjustments, holding back on deals and generally slowing the purchase of legal services in an already constrained market for the industry.
Attorneys and consultants said the past few months of market volatility have caused clients to hold off on deals, but they also noted this is nowhere near what firms experienced in 2008.
