A federal judge presiding over a sexual harassment case has applied proportionality under recently revised federal rules in determining that the deposition of the wife of a man accused of sexual harassment was unnecessary and would lead to the ­destruction of their marriage.

U.S. District Judge Michael Baylson of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania granted defendants Duc Van Nguyen and Mangar Industries Inc.’s motion for a protective order and to quash plaintiff Kathy Tong’s subpoena to Nguyen’s wife, Lan Thy Knuu.
