Former Philadelphia Traffic Court Judge Michael J. Sullivan has been sentenced to 10 months in federal prison and a year of supervised release after pleading guilty to paying employees of his tavern under the table.

U.S. District Senior Judge Eduardo C. Robreno of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania rejected Sullivan’s lawyer’s suggestion that he be given probation, reasoning that a message needed to be sent to the public about the seriousness of tax charges.
