Lawyers for Morgan, Lewis & Bockius urged a Philadelphia judge Tuesday to reject “Hail Mary” attempts by Dilworth Paxson and Philadelphia Media Network to explain why documents Dilworth has related to the sale of the media company are protected by attorney-client privilege.

In Philadelphia Media Network’s lawsuit against Morgan Lewis for racking up fees charged to the newspapers’ parent entity for work allegedly done to benefit a competing ownership group, nearly 120,000 documents have already been exchanged. But a group of documents generated in the two weeks between the May 27, 2014, auction to sell what was then Interstate General Media (IGM) and the June 11, 2014, signing of a purchase agreement are at the heart of a dispute between Morgan Lewis on one side and Sprague & Sprague and Dilworth Paxson on the other.
