State Sen. Larry Farnese, D-Philadelphia, has been charged by the U.S. Department of Justice with buying the vote of a member of the Philadelphia Democratic City Committee.

In a 13-count indictment, Farnese and committeewoman Ellen Chapman were charged Tuesday with conspiracy, wire fraud, mail fraud and violations of the Travel Act for their part in the alleged exchange of $6,000 from Farnese’s campaign fund for a vote in his favor for Democratic leader of the Eighth Ward.
