The First Judicial District has established a system to guide the process of resentencing hundreds of inmates given unconstitutional life sentences as juveniles.
The court released a general court regulation Tuesday that outlines the process for holding conferences and hearings for the inmates whose sentences were deemed unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court earlier this year. According to the regulation, which was signed Monday by Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Administrative Judge Jacqueline Allen, the regulation will take effect 30 days after it is published in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.
