The parents of a 14-year-old boy who drowned in an apartment complex pool have agreed to a $6 million settlement with the complex owner, property manager and pool safety and management contractor.
The parties filed a petition for approval of the settlement May 11 in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. Benjamin Dodoo died in June at the age of 14. His parents, Eric Doku and Comfort Dodoo, alleged that the defendants negligently failed to hire, train and equip competent lifeguards for the swimming pool located at Aspen Hill Apartments.
