The city of Allentown’s request for proposals to secure its contract for waste management and recycling services was adequately competitive, a Lehigh County judge has ruled.
In a recent opinion in Solid Waste Services v. City of Allentown, Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas Judge Carol K. McGinley found the third-class city adhered to its Home Rule Charter in awarding the contract, allowing for both competition among proposers and the establishment of the value of the services received.
