The 37th annual Philadelphia Bar Association 5K Charity Run/Walk took place May 15 with 1,300 participants either running or walking the 5K course. The race annually benefits the Support Center for Child Advocates’ efforts to combat child abuse and to defend its unfortunate victims in Philadelphia.

The men’s open competition was won in a time of 16:55 by 20-year-old Aron Tesfay, a Franklin & Marshall College student who finished second place in his age group in last year’s charity run. Tesfay was born in Mek’ele, Ethiopia, and migrated to the United States with his family in 2012. He began running the bar charity event with Students Run Philly Style in 2014.
