U.S. Attorney David Hickton of the Western District of Pennsylvania was announced Tuesday night as The Legal’s 2016 Attorney of the Year.
In the nearly six years since he was sworn into office, Hickton has risen to national prominence as a tireless advocate for fighting cybercrime and working to stem the heroin and opioid epidemic both in Pennsylvania and across the country. His efforts culminated last year with his being named by the White House as co-chair of the National Heroin Task Force as well as seeing his year-and-a-half-long effort to fight international hackers lead to charges filed against 70 people worldwide allegedly using an online cybercrime forum to facilitate wire fraud and money laundering.
