Bruce Beemer, first deputy in the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General and an occasional thorn in the side of Attorney General Kathleen Kane, is leaving the office to become the state’s next inspector general.

Beemer is set to take over at the Office of Inspector General on July 25, according to Gov. Tom Wolf. Members of the OAG were not aware of Beemer’s plans to leave until Tuesday, when he informed staff about his departure in a memo, office spokesman Jeff Johnson said.
