The judge who oversaw the latest Risperdal trial has rejected Janssen Pharmaceutical’s bid to toss the $70 million award.

Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Paula Patrick issued a one-sentence order in A.Y. v. Janssen Pharmaceuticals late Monday, denying the drugmaker’s post-trial motions that had asked for either a new trial or a judgment notwithstanding the verdict. In a separate ruling also issued on Monday afternoon, Patrick denied a post-trial motion from the plaintiff that had sought reversal of an order barring punitive damages from
the case.
