After nearly three decades presiding over complex, high-profile cases and becoming an authority on evidence in Pennsylvania courts, Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Mark I. Bernstein has announced his plan to retire from the bench.

Bernstein, who has served as a judge since 1987 and was instrumental in establishing Philadelphia’s case management system, said he will be retiring in October.
