State Attorney General Kathleen Kane’s last-minute filing to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court is simply an effort to delay and avoid her impending criminal trial, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office has alleged in a court filing.

The District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday filed an answer to and motion to quash Kane’s emergency application for extraordinary relief, which she filed Monday. The prosecutors said Kane is not entitled to special treatment, and can instead pursue an appeal after trial “just like every other criminal defendant.”
