A Malvern-based metals company has sued an Ohio pipe retailer, claiming it was the latest victim of a multistate scheme that included stealing more than $250,000 from the Pennsylvania company by attempting to sell materials it allegedly did not own.

The Sullivan Corp., which buys overstocked metal pipes used in industrial products and then refurbishes, or resells them to other industrial clients, lodged claims against Rocky River, Ohio-based ExchangeBase LLC, and three company heads, over what it contends was a fraudulent scheme to steal $257,040. The nine-count complaint includes claims of fraud, breach of contract and violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
