Proposed changes to the state’s workers’ compensation system, backed by health care providers, drew fire from the insurance community and received a mixed review from the business community at a House Labor and Industry Committee hearing in Harrisburg last week.
Introduced by Rep. Stan Saylor, R-York, HB 1141 would amend the workers’ compensation law to require insurers to accept electronic billing; impose penalties for late payment and end the practice of “silent discounting;” and prohibit insurers and their agents from using threats or coercion in their solicitations for discounted reimbursements.
