A group of well-known plaintiffs seeking to change the wording of a ballot question that could raise Pennsylvania’s mandatory judicial retirement age have filed suit in the Commonwealth Court, just days after being rebuffed by the state Supreme Court.

Former Chief Justices Ronald D. Castille and Stephen Zappala Sr., along with attorney Richard Sprague, on Monday asked the court for declaratory and injunctive relief, requesting that the ballot question be updated to inform Pennsylvania voters of the current retirement age of 70, in addition to the proposed cap of 75. The question is set to be on the Nov. 8 ballot.
