Kathleen Kane has told the Montgomery County judge overseeing her criminal sentencing that she is “an appropriate candidate” for house arrest, rather than more severe punishment. Her sentencing hearing is set for Oct. 24.

Kane, the former Pennsylvania attorney general convicted in August of two felony counts of perjury and related misdemeanors, said in a motion submitted to the court Thursday requesting a house arrest suitability assessment that, as a nonviolent offender with a low risk of recidivism, she should receive intermediate punishment instead of a sentence to a correctional facility. She also noted that she is the primary caregiver to two minor children.
