Citicorp’s claim that it did not receive notice of a lawsuit because its in-house legal department in Texas did not timely receive the complaint would create an exception to process requirements that would aid only the largest companies, the Pennsylvania Superior Court said as part of a ruling denying the financial giant’s efforts to overturn a default judgment against it.

A unanimous three-judge panel of the Superior Court in Guntrum v. Citicorp Trust Bank overturned a trial court’s decision to open the default judgment and allow Citicorp to mount a defense.
