A former law firm leader left disabled from a brain injury suffered after taking antibiotics has settled his lawsuit for disability benefits against the firm’s insurer, MetLife.

The settlement comes before U.S. District Judge Legrome Davis of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania could rule on whether the managing partner, suing anonymously as John Doe, had to reveal his name. Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. had filed in September a motion to dismiss the suit, Doe v. MetLife, arguing anonymity in the case was against the concept of open courts and left the court without jurisdiction over the case.
