Word of defamation cases filed in Philadelphia courts against nonexistent “phantom” defendants has reached the First Judicial District, and judges are now on the lookout for them.

News has recently spread that several courts across the country have seen a small number of defamation cases filed against nonexistent defendants. All the cases are seeking injunctions compelling the defendant to remove allegedly defamatory content posted online, and all are seeking court orders that can be brought to internet search engines, like Google and Yahoo, which can then remove links to the offending content.
