As a younger lawyer, I am hiring my first paralegal and part-time secretary. What are my responsibilities?
For any lawyer in any size firm, there are supervisory responsibilities for a nonlawyer, such as a paralegal or a secretary or file clerk. The lawyer must make efforts to ensure the person knows the pertinent Rules of Professional Conduct. Obviously, one is not going to spend weeks of lectures and testing to train a new employee.
